It is said that Koreans have innate artistic qualities and exceptionally wonderful workmanship. It is especially the handicraft culture of Korean women that has come to gain international recognition. Furthermore, it has been estimated that artisan handicrafts will become a core aspect of culture that will lead the 21st century. The Department of Arts and Crafts faculty has a sense of duty and pride in its specialized teaching and it strives to meet the current demand for talented international artisans by fostering a Korean aesthetic sense in future handcraft designers who can develop a cultural brand of high quality.
Purpose of education of Division of Craft Design is to cultivate students as leaders of craft art world with capabilities to modernize, form, and globalize the values of Korean Craft Arts.
1. Craft design aims to cultivate professional craftsman with creative expression and comprehensive understanding through education of theories and practices regarding metal craft design, ceramic craft design, wood craft design and dyeing craft design.
2. Education aims to equip students with new understanding of aesthetic social functions through various materials and expression skills with organic harmony of skills and art.
3. Education focuses on equipping students with global sense and humanity to be creative leaders with information about future-centered environmental formation and cultural art transfer.
