The development of a nation depends on the advancement of the sciences, including chemistry. Chemistry is the study of various materials and different types of energy. Based on this knowledge, it becomes possible to use energy efficiently and ethically. Initially, chemistry was construed as a theoretical subject but was found to be a pragmatic one, useful in solving problems related to the environment and the use of natural resources, issues which affect society at large. Chemistry is therefore considered both a pragmatic field as well as a socially participative study. It is for this reason that students of the Department of Chemistry are trying to expand their area of study with pride.
