- Festival of Reserve Officers’ Training Corps ‘2017 Cheongpa Martial Festival’
The very first female university to produce ROTC held a festival to wrap up their activities for the year.
On November23, ROTC held a ‘Cheongpa Martial Festival’ at the Samsung Convention Center inside the Centennial Hall. About 240 participants, including ROTC cadets and their family, and school authorities attended the festival. This is an annual event to report all the achievements from the ROTC members for the past year and to encourage the traditional success of the ROTC, their motivations, sentiment and the power of unity.
The ROTC cadets showed their well-polished talents on stage that they practiced on top of military drills and schoolwork. Starting from charismatic performances like Yedomu and Taekwonmu to singing, hip-hop and dance, the cadets radiated their talent and passion through tentatively planned programs.
Having worried about their daughters who will become commissioned officers, families of the cadets attended the event. They were able to see the cadets’ strength and confidence, and understand how they were adapting to social life.
President Kang Jeong-ae, the head of ROTC Seo Jae-kwon, and the former head of the National Defense Reform Department Hong Kyu-duk ( Professor of Political Science and Diplomacy) attended and encouraged the candidates. Choi Eun-jin, the school discipline officer, said “It has been a meaningful experience to convey our appreciation to the family by showing their well-grown children being a part of the best ROTC groups in Korea.”
