The Department of Food & Nutrition researches patterns of food consumption and searches for paths to better health and welfare. The detailed branches of this Department are sitology and dietetics. Sitology is a field that studies every stage from the production of food, to handling and consumption. It includes all research regarding food production procedures and the roles of caterers who provide and deliver to the consumers. Dietetics is the area that focuses on the physiological and biochemical phenomena when food is digested in the body. It investigates and reveals the role of food in bodily development, functions, and in disease prevention. In other words, food and nutrition science is a study of the future that covers various aspects of dietary life.
Purpose of the Education
The education purpose of the Department of Food & Nutrition is to teach the basic theory of the dietary life study for fostering the experts who practice its applied technology to contribute to the ultimate qualitative improvement of the life by improving the human health and nutrition.
Education Goal
The Department of Food & Nutrition educates the students to achieve the scientific and rational dietary life and to acquire the professional knowledge through the execution of researches on the nutrition and food studies for the purpose of setting up correct dietary life. It teaches the students to contribute to the development of science, and discharges the technical manpower and female professional manpower in the food & nutrition filed for the students to manage and lead the reasonable dietary life conforming to the new 21st century.
- Learn the basic knowledge of food science and nutrition science, and study the fundamental fields needed to understand it.
- Acquire the professional knowledge for contriving the scientific and rational dietary life and health promotion.
- Experience the knowledge learned by theory through the experiments and practices, and acquire the technique to apply it.
