Visiting Students & Student Exchange Program
SMU’s Semester Abroad Program offers a unique opportunity for university students currently enrolled in institutions outside of Korea. Both male and female students are eligible to apply. As a Study Abroad student, you can earn credits towards your home degree while immersing yourself in a valuable international and intercultural experience in Korea. Additionally, Exchange Students from Partner Institutions have the option to participate in this program, with the possibility of tuition waiver based on the exchange agreement. Participants in the program have the chance to enroll in SMU’s undergraduate and graduate schools. Earned credits are recorded on an official SMU transcript, which may be transferable to other universities.

Benefits for International Students
Sookmyung Buddy Leadership Group, URINK
U.R.I. (United Relationship for Internationalization) is a student-led group at Sookmyung Women’s University. Local SMU students volunteer as buddies to assist and support international students on campus. Each international student is paired with a student buddy who helps them with general matters in Korea and helps them adjust to university life. The program promotes cultural exchange, fosters lasting friendships, and offers opportunities for students to participate in various events and activities together.
Scholarship Offered Volunteer Programs
International students from around the world can volunteer in Sookmyung Women’s University’s English Speaking Spot (ESS) and Second Language Tutoring program (SLT). In this program, they have the opportunity to teach their native language to Sookmyung students and receive a scholarship of KRW 10,000 per hour throughout the semester. It is a great way for international students to share their language skills and earn a scholarship at the same time.
