Chemical and biochemical engineering encompasses the design, analysis and control of processes related to chemistry, electronic materials and energy. It also involves molecular-level microengineering approaches in various fields such as advanced materials, renewable energy, secondary batteries, environmental pollution reduction, disease diagnosis, artificial life forms, biopharmaceuticals and mutifunctional cosmetics. The Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering strives to stay at the forefront of the rapidly advancing academic trends that transcend disciplinary boundaries and aims to lead various future growth industries.
Education Purposes
Chemical and biochemical engineering is a representative interdisciplinary field that combines natural sciences and engineering knowledge. The Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Sookmyung Women’s University focuses on practical, industry-oriented and holistic education, in future-oriented fields such as advanced materials, renewable energy, secondary batteries, disease diagnosis, artificial life forms and multifunctional cosmetics.
