Sookmyung Selected in the K-Edu Field at the “2024 K-Brand Awards”

Sookmyung Women’s University was selected in the K-Edu (University) field at “2024 K-Brand Awards” hosted by TV Chosun. The K-Brand Awards, presented by TV Chosun, are Korea’s most prestigious awards ceremony to highlight the excellence of the nation’s representative brands. The awards ceremony was held on Wednesday, January 24th, at The Plaza Hotel in Seoul. Sookmyung received high accolades for actualizing systematic innovation that matches our vision of becoming the “foremost digital humanity university in the world.” In September of last year, our university opened the Jang Bong Ae Digital Humanity Center, a center for digital convergence research and education, to foster a convergence environment that can keep up with the digital age. It is a place to conduct interdisciplinary research and develop a curriculum of creative vision through the convergence of humanities and digital technology. Sookmyung has also received attention for discovering talented individuals and developing a new platform that transcends the boundaries of reality and virtual space. In 2021, we established “Snowverse”, the first university-use metaverse campus in Korea, and last year, opened “Snowverse 2.0”, adding functions such as libraries and auditoriums. We also run the “Sookmyung-Minerva Exchange Program” with Minerva University in San Francisco, California, USA, one of the leading innovation universities in the world. Ever since we were selected as a software-centered university (SW-centered university), receiving 15 billion won in government support for 8 years, Sookmyung has worked to strengthen our software capabilities. Regardless of major, all students must complete three SW-related liberal arts courses, and we also offer a SW convergence track. As of 2023, we have founded 5 advanced technology programs as part of our engineering college to cultivate talented individuals that can advance future key fields such as big data and AI. Sookmyung has established a sustainable campus model by using eco-friendliness, social responsibility, and open management, all key elements in ESG, as main factors in our university management. In addition to research on eco-friendly smart farms, we foster startups in the ESG field together with the climate tech startup SuperBin. Sookmyung also continuously performs social contribution activities, such as Love Sharing volunteer campaigns for people in cramped housing and handing out briquettes.

International Programs

There are many opportunities to experience Korean traditional culture both on and off campus through lectures and field trips.
