On Tue, Feb. 13, the Vice President Park Jong-seong (left) presented a plaque of appreciation to Ham Young-joon Chairperson of the Ottogi Ham Taiho Foundation,

to celebrate the opening of the Ottogi Ham Taiho state-of-the-art lecture hall.

The Department of Food & Nutrition built the lecture hall on the 5th floor of the Veritas Building with the latest state-of-the-art technology for online and offline communication thanks to support from the Ottogi Ham Taiho Foundation.

The Department of Food & Nutrition held a ceremony on Tue, Feb. 13 to commemorate the opening of the Ottogi Ham Taiho state-of-the-art lecture hall.

The department received KRW 150 million in funds after being selected in November 2022 as part of Ottogi Ham Taiho Foundation’s state-of-the-art lecture hall support project. With these funds, the existing rooms 512 and 513 of the Veritas Building were combined and remodeled, and renamed the Ottogi Ham Taiho state-of-the-art lecture hall.

This lecture hall was built with functions that match the features of many subjects that make it possible to conduct various classes, such as capstone design, project foundations, problem-solving foundations, and more. The lecture hall been used for most lectures equipped with only a regular white board and a small projector, making the introduction of new class formats difficult.

The new lecture hall is equipped with a 110-inch video wall, a high-resolution lecturer-tracking video system, a hands-free ceiling beamforming microphone, and a high-quality audio system for student comfort when participating in online and offline lectures.

The hall is also installed with various class materials, including a smart board for the lecturer’s use, six wireless smart boards for use in group classes, and mobile desks and chairs. The hall is also equipped with the latest video distribution system compatible with students’ personal devices to ensure smooth two-way communication between the instructor and students, as well as among students. Recorded videos will also have various features such as replay to increase the effectiveness of student learning.

Department Head Kim Sung-eun, who led the project, said, “With the support of this project, a variety of advanced teaching methods can now be introduced and we can create a flexible educational environment to impart the skills needed to creatively solve the issues of modern society by cultivating a convergence of talented individuals. We expect that professors and students, and students among themselves will be able to more smoothly communicate and learn more effectively.”

Kim Sung-eun added, “I would like to thank everyone from our university community, including from the General Affairs & Management office, who contributed to making today’s opening ceremony possible.”
