The University Job Plus Center invited Thomas Caso, CEO of Nestlé Korea, as the first lecturer for the SM Leader Special Lectures in the first semester of 2024, on Thu, Mar. 14.

Mr. Caso delivered a lecture titled “My Career & Nestlé” at Gemma Hall that afternoon.

Mr. Caso has held key positions at Nestlé in various regions such as North America and Africa, and is recognized for his achievements in developing talent based on diversity and inclusion and improving business efficiency. Sookmyung signed an MOU with Nestlé in Oct. 2023 to foster female talent.

This special lecture was offered in English for about two hours to an enthusiastic audience of over 250 students. Mr. Caso delivered the lecture in a friendly manner, wearing a “no tie” outfit to feel closer to the students.

Mr. Caso said, “Through various endeavors and experiences during my college years and early career, I have gained insights that now serve as valuable assets to help me with important tasks and decisions.”

He explained Nestlé’s ongoing commitment to “Creating Shared Value” through various initiatives and emphasized the importance of corporate activities aimed at young people, such as internship programs.

“As someone who enjoys using Nestlé products and services, I was able to learn about Nestlé’s social values and eco-friendly moves through this lecture,” said Baek Su-hyeon (Clothing & Textiles, ’19), who attended the lecture. “Through the Q&A session, I felt that Nestlé has a corporate culture where people from diverse fields come together and respect each other, and I would like to challenge myself with an internship to experience Nestlé’s philosophy and culture.”

The SM Leader Special Lectures, where Mr. Caso was a guest lecturer, is a program of the Career Development Office’s University Job Plus Center that invites leaders, experts, and corporate executives from various industries to give lectures.
