Sookmyung Women's University signs an MOU with Saudi Arabia’s prestigious Prince Sultan University (PSU)
Sookmyung Women’s University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Prince Sultan University (PSU) in Saudi Arabia to expand academic exchanges, including student exchange programs and participation in the Sookmyung International Summer School (SISS). Prince Sultan University, the first private university in Saudi Arabia, is recognized as one of the leading institutions in the Middle East. It is ranked 681–690 in the QS World University Rankings 2025, 401st in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024, and 101st globally in Business Administration according to the ShanghaiRanking. President Moon Siyeun of Sookmyung Women’s University officially visited PSU in Riyadh on Sunday, April 13, to sign the MOU. The visit was a reciprocal gesture following the PSU delegation’s visit to Sookmyung earlier in February. Through this MOU, both institutions have established a foundation for collaboration in various areas such as student and faculty exchanges, joint research, language education, and cultural programs. The agreement includes plans to promote: Regular semester exchange programs, The Sookmyung International Summer School (SISS), Customized short-term visit programs, Korean language and cultural exchange programs, Given PSU’s active interest in Korea and the Korean language—including a non-degree Korean language program offered on its campus—the partnership is expected to rapidly foster vibrant exchanges between the two universities. During the visit, the Sookmyung delegation also attended the 8th WiDS PSU 2025 (Women in Data Science Conference), co-hosted by PSU and Stanford University. This event, part of Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” innovation strategy, featured leading global researchers and industry experts in data science, who delivered lectures, workshops, and panel discussions on cutting-edge topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data. President Moon stated, “This agreement marks a meaningful step in establishing a practical and sustainable partnership with one of the top universities in the Middle East. We will continue to promote diverse forms of collaboration to deepen our understanding of Arab culture and enhance global engagement.”
