Global Lounge

Global Lounge, managed by the Office of International Affairs (OIA), serves as a hub for fostering connections between Sookmyung Women's University and the international students. It offers a conducive environment for studying, providing access to news from CNN, CCTV, and NHK. Additionally, students can engage in 'Second Language Tutoring Programs' and 'English Speaking Spot' sessions. OIA program coordinators are readily available to offer their support and assistance.

Global Lounge is located on the first floor of the Centennial Hall. As an international student, if you need any assistance or support, don't hesitate to visit the Global Lounge. We're here to help and welcome you!

English Lounge

Discover the English Lounge, established in March 2007, a dedicated English-speaking zone on campus. Located on the first floor of the Sunheon Building, just in front of the main entrance, it offers a comfortable atmosphere for practicing English. Feel free to drop by and make the most of this valuable resource!

  • Magazines and Books

    The English Lounge houses a collection of magazines and books, including subscriptions to Newsweek, National Geographic, Archaeology, Elle, Cosmopolitan, and Marie Claire. Feel free to read any of these materials while in the lounge, but please refrain from taking them home.

  • Newspapers and Brochures

    The English Lounge offers daily newspapers (IHT) as well as Sookmyung brochures and information on events happening around Seoul.

  • TV Room

    The TV Room features a wide screen TV with SKY life and a DVD player with a selection of DVDs, including Friends, Grey's Anatomy, Lost, Harry Potter series, Prison Break, etc. There is a comfortable couch to relax on. Kindly remove your shoes and place them on the shoe rack before entering the TV Room. Food is not allowed inside the room, but you are welcome to use it for entertainment and relaxation.

  • Internet Zone

    The English Lounge offers three computers with internet access, allowing students to browse the web for leisure or conduct research and complete homework assignments for their classes.

  • Write Spot

    During Write Spot hours, GEP lecturers are available to help students with essay writing, cover letters, and homework assignments. The GEP lecturers volunteer their time from 11am to 5pm on Mondays to Thursdays, and 11am to 4pm on Fridays. To receive assistance, students need to reserve a time slot on the reservation sheet provided on the bookcase and bring their essays. Please use only one time slot in a row to allow others to have the opportunity to receive help.
