Article 5 (Rights and Obligations of Data Subjects and Methods of Exercising Them)

Data subjects have the following rights. Legal representatives of children under the age of 14 can request access, correction, and deletion of the child's personal information.

Request for Personal Information Access

You can request to access personal information files held by Sookmyung Women's University through the university's official website, in accordance with Article 35 (Access to Personal Information) of the Personal Information Protection Act. However, access may be restricted according to Article 35(4) of the same Act.

When there is a concern that it may harm another person's life, body, property, or other interests
When providing access would significantly impede the performance of important public tasks by a public institution
1. a. Business related to assessment, collection, or refund of taxes.

Business related to academic evaluation or admission selection at various educational institutions under the "Elementary and Secondary Education Act" and "Higher Education Act," lifelong education facilities under the "Lifelong Education Act," and other educational institutions established according to different laws.
3. c. Business related to examinations for academic qualifications, skills, and employment, and business related to qualification assessments.
4. d. Business related to ongoing evaluations or judgments for calculating compensation or benefit payments.
5. e. Business related to audits and investigations being conducted according to other laws.

Request for Correction or Deletion of Personal Information

You can request correction or deletion of personal information files held by Sookmyung Women's University, in accordance with Article 36 (Correction or Deletion of Personal Information) of the Personal Information Protection Act. However, if the personal information is specified as a collection target under other laws, you cannot request its deletion.

Request for Suspension of Personal Information Processing

You can request the suspension of processing personal information files held by Sookmyung Women's University, in accordance with Article 37 (Suspension of Processing Personal Information, etc.) of the Personal Information Protection Act. However, the request may be refused under Article 37(2) of the same Act.

When there is a special provision under the law or it is necessary to comply with legal obligations
When there is a concern that it may harm another person's life, body, property, or other interests
When a public institution cannot perform tasks specified by other laws without processing personal information
When not processing personal information would make it difficult to fulfill the terms of a contract, such as providing a service agreed upon with the data subject, and the data subject has not clearly expressed an intention to terminate the contract

o Method of Exercising Rights (Filing Requests) for Access, Correction/Deletion, and Suspension of Personal Information Processing

Data subjects can exercise their rights (file requests) for access, correction/deletion, and suspension of personal information processing through written communication, email, facsimile transmission (FAX), or in-person visits to the university, following the identity verification process as per the Form No. 8 of the Enforcement Rules of the Personal Information Protection Act.

Identity Verification Procedure
1. For data subjects verifying their own identity, submit a valid identification document (e.g., resident registration card, driver's license) that is publicly recognized by administrative agencies and is not easily tampered with or forged.
2. For legal representatives of data subjects, submit documents verifying their legal representative status.
3. For individuals acting as representatives by delegation from data subjects, submit a power of attorney according to Form No. 11 of the Enforcement Rules of the Personal Information Protection Act, and proof of identity for both the delegate and the data subject.

Appeal Method for Limitation or Rejection of Personal Information Access, Correction/Deletion, and Suspension Requests

If Sookmyung Women's University limits or rejects a data subject's request for access, correction/deletion, or suspension, the university provides information on the reasons for such limitations or rejections in writing, and informs the data subject of the methods for filing an appeal such as "Request for Administrative Review" or "Filing an Administrative Lawsuit." Article 6 (Destruction of Personal Information)

Sookmyung Women's University, in principle, promptly destroys personal information once the purpose of processing is achieved. The procedures, deadlines, and methods for destruction are as follows:

Destruction Procedure

After the purpose is achieved, personal information is immediately transferred to a separate storage or location and is stored for a certain period in accordance with internal policies and relevant laws. Personal information transferred to separate storage is not used for purposes other than those specified, unless required by law.

Destruction Deadline and Method

When the retention period expires, or when personal information becomes unnecessary due to the achievement of the processing purpose or the discontinuation of relevant operations, the information is promptly destroyed. Electronic files are technologically rendered irreproducible. Personal information printed on paper is destroyed using a shredder or incineration.

Article 7 (Security Measures for Personal Information Protection)

Sookmyung Women's University implements the necessary technological, managerial, and physical measures to ensure the security of personal information, as stipulated in Article 29 of the Personal Information Protection Act.

Minimization and Training of Personnel Handling Personal Information

Only the necessary personnel are designated and managed to handle personal information, and safety training is conducted for these employees to ensure secure management.

Establishment and Implementation of Internal Management Plan

An internal management plan is established and implemented to ensure the secure processing of personal information.

Access Restriction to Personal Information

Access to the database systems handling personal information is controlled through the granting, modification, and revocation of access permissions. Intrusion prevention systems are utilized to control unauthorized access from external sources

Retention of Access Logs

Access records (web logs, summary information, etc.) to personal information processing systems are retained and managed for a minimum of 6 months.

Encryption of Personal Information

Personal information is stored and managed securely through encryption and other measures. Additionally, important data is encrypted during storage and transmission, utilizing separate security functions.

Installation and Regular Update of Security Programs

Security programs are installed and regularly updated to prevent leaks and damage to personal information due to hacking or computer viruses.

Use of Locking Devices for Document Security

Documents containing personal information and auxiliary storage media are stored in secure locations with locking devices.

Procedure for Requesting Access, Correction, Deletion, and Suspension of Personal Information

Request for Access:
- Requester (Data Subject or Authorized Representative): Submit a request for accessing personal information using the designated form.
- Sookmyung Women's University (Privacy Protection Officer): Within 10 days, provide a notification letter indicating approval, partial approval, extension, or denial.
Request for Correction, Deletion, or Suspension:
- Requester (Data Subject or Authorized Representative): Submit a request for correction, deletion, or suspension of personal information using the designated form.
