The Sookmyung Volunteers, which consists of 8 teams and 88 volunteers in total, plans to conduct a variety of volunteer activities in the community, including Yongsan area, and numerous locations in the country and overseas during the July and August summer break.

The “Sookmyung SIWA Volunteers,” who are providing services to Korean adoptees in the U.S., are to conduct a camp that introduces Korean culture, history, among others to the local adopted Korean children by visiting the Albany and Rochester areas of New York from end of June to mid-July. The “SFV” is to hold activities such as teaching Korean, music, and art by visiting childcare facilities in Vietnam during July.

In Korea, educational services are to be provided to youths in the Yongsan District. The “Sookmyung Interpretation Volunteers” have prepared a program called Hanbyeol Camp, which is a language camp for children that teaches English, Chinese, and Japanese through various play activities. The “Seolhwayeon” and “Cheong” are to each hold camps based on taekwondo education with themes of realizing energetic mind and body and development into confident critical thinkers.

In addition, the “Step-Up” is to hold a dream and career search camp called “Mong(夢)ki,” and the “S.O.F (Study of Family & Family Resource)” plans to provide help in choosing future careers to youths by holding self-exploration and life planning programs based on life cycle development learning and experiences. The “Snowflakes of Sookmyung Village(숙명 마을의 눈송이)” also grabbed people’s attention through the play program that contributes to happier children by visiting children facilities in the Paju region.

The Student Support Team members, which hosted the starting ceremony, said, “Despite their busy schedule of preparing for employment during the break, the students are to spread the value of sharing and co-prosperity far and wide through home and abroad educational volunteer activities in the form of talent donation.”
