The Graduate School of Education and the Teacher Training Center at Sookmyung Women’s University Signs a Fundamental Education Support Project MOU with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education.

Sookmyung Women’s University's Graduate School of Education (Director Keon-Jong Yeo) and the Teacher Training Center (Director So-Young Park) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOU) on a basic education support project with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education on, Tuesday, March 30th. This project is a credit recognized volunteer activity of students at teacher training institutions to help elementary and middle school students in Seoul.

The teachers' colleges, the graduate schools of education, teaching departments from 21 universities including Sookmyung Women’s University and the directors of teacher training institutions attended the signing ceremony.

 

 

Through this project, the prospective teachers, who are students of teacher training institutions, can have an opportunity to participate in and experience the field training such as basic education cooperation teaching or after-school supplementary class.

The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education plans to operate an information guidance system so that such educational volunteer work can be linked to basic education support and to provide educational volunteers with free remote training specialized for prospective teachers.

The education and training team of the Graduate School of Education and the Teacher Training Center of Sookmyung Women’s University will guide students who are planning to complete the teacher training courses to participate in the education volunteer program at elementary and secondary school sites and give them credits for educational services.

"We hope this project will serve as a good opportunity for prospective teachers at Sookmyung Women’s University to grow into teachers with virtuous personality and on-site professionalism." said Keon-Jong Yeo who is the director of the Graduate School of Education.
