Sookmyung Women's University announced the Sookmyung 2030 Vision, “The World's Best Digital Humanities University” on May 21 (Fri) in commemoration of the 115th anniversary of the founding of Sookmyung Women's University, which was on May 22.

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, President Yunkeum Chang's 115th anniversary speech and 2030 vision declaration were released as a video on Sookmyung Women's University's official YouTube channel this morning (https://youtu.be/Jxvkb1xEXzY).

President Chang, who said that the spirit of innovation that wrote the history of women nationalists has been Sookmyung's pride for the past 115 years, declared “The World's Best Digital Humanities University” as the vision of Sookmyung Women's University facing new challenges. An online survey in which Sookmyung Women's University professors, students, staff, and alumni participated became the basis for the establishment of the Sookmyung 2030 vision.

To achieve the vision, three innovations were presented: ▲digital convergence innovation ▲startup incubator innovation ▲ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) practice innovation.

President Chang announced a plan to establish a “Digital Humanity Center” that converges the humanities, society, culture, art, and science with the goal of “digital convergence innovation.”

In addition, as part of the “startup incubator innovation,” ▲startup support system ▲100 alumni mentoring program ▲“115th anniversary Sookmyung vision special lecture series” consisting of 15 CEOs of leading domestic and foreign companies will be promoted.

Lastly, for “ESG practice innovation,” plans such as ▲establishing a “global standard” for sustainable universities ▲creating a “global Sookmyung campus” ▲building a “global online education system” were also revealed in this video.

President Chang said, “It is difficult to promise a sustainable future for ‘digitization’ that is not based in humanity,” and “with the goal of the 2030 vision of Sookmyung, we will dash toward the ‘road of new challenges to lead the world’ like our predecessors 115 years ago.”

The “115th Anniversary Ceremony” was held in three parts at the Hansangeun Lounge on the 7th floor of the Centennial Hall from 9:30 am on the same day. In order to actively participate in social distancing, only the award commemorating the 115th anniversary was held at this commemorative ceremony, and attendees were also limited to recipients.

Meanwhile, on the official YouTube channel of Sookmyung Women's University, you can watch the congratulatory remarks left by Chairman Seung-han Lee and Alumni President Sun-rye Kim to commemorate the 115th anniversary of the founding.
