Signed an agreement for the “Innovative College of Korea Project for Nurturing New Digital Talents”

16 people, including presidents and project heads of 7 universities including Sookmyung Women’s University, Seoul National University, University of Seoul, Gyeonggi University of Science and Technology, Gyeongsang National University, Jeonbuk National University, and Handong Global University, attended the online signing ceremony.

 


 

Through the signing of the agreement, the seven universities agreed to cooperate as members of the big data project team to promote student exchange and mutual development of the Innovation College of Korea.

 

The big data project group consists of representative universities specialized by region and field, such as the metropolitan area (Sookmyung Women's University, Seoul National University, University of Seoul, Gyeonggi University of Science and Technology), the southeast region (Gyeongsang National University), Honam/Jeju region (Jeonbuk National University), and Daegyeong/Gangwon region (Handong University). The project group will receive 8 billion won in big data support from the Ministry of Education for the next six years, and plans to maximize the performance of the project through organic cooperation and communication based on complementary advantages of each university.

 


 

In particular, this project group has set the goal of providing equal educational opportunities to all learners who have educational needs in the field of big data, and nurturing key talents in big data through digital-based data analysis and management.

 

In addition, as a step-by-step roadmap, the following was established: ▲ Phase 1 (2021~2023): Development of the education model for the Innovation College of Korea, expansion of the curriculum, and establishment of the education model ▲ Phase 2 (2024~2026): The expansion of the educational model of the Innovation College of Korea, the expansion of external boundaries, and the establishment of culture.

 

Sookmyung Women’s University is expected to create synergistic effects such as cooperation with participating universities ▲securing a pool of excellent teachers in the field of big data ▲resolving imbalances in educational infrastructure between regions ▲proposition of a new university education model in the post-COVID-19 era ▲nurturing key talents in big data equipped with convergence, excellence, and diversity.
