Sookmyung Women’s University’s Entrepreneurship Engagement Foundation successfully concluded the startup competition “Fly to the Startup” on December 27 (Tue) at the Snowflake Square Square Hall.

The startup competition was organized to share the results of business ideas through promotional booths and a demo day. In particular, this year, a preliminary mock investment was conducted, which drew high interest and participation in the startup clubs, resulting in over 360 participants.

Sookmyung Women’s University proposed “startup incubator innovation” as one of the three major innovations of Sookmyung's “2030 Vision” and is taking the lead in fostering women's entrepreneurship by operating various startup programs to become a leading university for specialized convergence research and future technology startups.

The competition was attended by 13 startup clubs, mock investment participants, and a total of 400 people, including Jung-san Oh, Dean of Research & Business Development Foundation, Chul Choi, Dean of Career Development, and external judges. The judging was based on a combination of judges' evaluations and mock investment results, with criteria including idea feasibility, customer validation, and marketability, and a total of six winning teams were selected.

The Grand Prize winner, Lusong Team(루송 팀), proposed a new design of sanitary products for women, "a new concept sanitary pad created by a female designer for 2030 women who value convenience as a premium," which garnered high interest and response from the judges and mock investors.

"We are grateful to have gained valuable results from the startup competition, and this award is even more meaningful because despite the difficult preparation process we did our best," and "we would greatly appreciate your continued support so that we can turn this grand prize into a springboard toward continued hard work and further development," they said.

The WEAT:TH team, which won the Excellence Prize for proposing "a service that can creatively reuse ugly fruits," said, "The startup mentoring and demo day experience really helped us to prepare for our startup, and we would like to continue to actively participate in various programs conducted by the Entrepreneurship Engagement Foundation in the future."

"Startups can start with a small motivation to solve problems that students experience in their daily lives, and entrepreneurial skills can shine in any business field and for employment opportunities as well," and "this year, many prospective teams participated in the startup competition with fresh ideas, and we hope that more students can gain good experiences and capabilities through enterprising challenges during their college years," said Chul Choi, Dean of the Entrepreneurship Engagement Foundation.
