Bringing Spring Back to the Campus by Holding the Sunrise Festival in Four Years

For the first time in four years since the COVID-19 breakout, the Sunrise Festival, which heralds the coming of spring on the campus, was conducted as a face-to-face event.
The 2023 Sunrise Festival took place for two days from March 8. It serves as a beginning of the spring semester each year as well as a representative event to promote student organization events and attract new members.
Since it was conducted face-to-face for the first time in four years since the pandemic, this year＇s response from the students was even more heated. The 2020 Sunrise Festival had previously been canceled, and in 2021 and 2022, it took place online.
For two days, there were about 30 advertising booths put up close to Myungshin Building and Veritas Building frequented by students. The students took advantage of the warm weather to experience the complete spring on campus.
The Student Union Task Force, which planned the event, provided students with school merch and took Polaroid pictures in return for students participating in each booth event and collecting stickers. The rewards were quickly sold out because the students were so eager to partake.
“Last year, when I didn’t come to school often because there were many online classes, it was difficult to make friends. Looking at the campus bustling with freshmen this year, I＇m a little jealous,” said Ko Myung-ah, a sophomore (College of Law, Age 22) who visited an event booth with a friend.
Ko Soo-young (Department of Public Relations and Advertising, Age 23), a freshman, said, “When I was in high school, I dreamed of joining student clubs and enjoying campus life with friends. It＇s good to know what kinds of student clubs there are while receiving merch from different booths at this year＇s Sunrise Festival.”
Students from clubs such as Nivis, MAX, Sookpung, Seolhwayeon, BSL, and Destiny went up the stage in the second day＇s afternoon on March 9.
The Student Union Task Force stated, “It is significant in that offline events were finally held after the long non-face-to-face period that started with COVID-19. Through various in-person events, such as stage performances and promotional booths, we wanted students to feel the excitement of a new beginning.”
