President Chang Yun-keum (4th from the left) and Daegu Haany University President Byun Chang-hoon (3rd from the left) test out products with students from both schools for joint cosmetics brand “Lamoni” at the launching ceremony at the Han Sang-eun Lounge of Sookmyung Women's University's Centennial Hall on Friday, January 19th.

In a cooperative project with Daegu Haany University (DHU), Sookmyung has released the very first joint cosmetics company between universities called “Lamoni”.

Lamoni products are made through a combination of Sookmyung's design prowess and DHU’s cosmetics formulations and production technology. Three products have been released: a moisturizing hand cream, a moisture hand cream, and a moisture serum.

The name “Lamoni” is derived from the French word L’harmonie, which means harmony. The products are a combination of apricot flowers, which bloom at Sookmyung only in the winter, and white zinnia flowers, which bloom at DHU only in the summer, and symbolize harmony of the environment, people, and everything around us, just like the flowers that bloom every season. The two hand creams contain apricot flower extract, and white zinnia extract, symbolizing the tradition and history of both schools.

In May 2023, both schools entered into a business contract with the help of LINC3.0 for the development of this joint cosmetics brand, and collected opinions from a total of 1,500 students and alumni to improve product completion. Through a Capstone Design subject, a problem-based learning technique, students directly produced product prototypes and showcased them at a performance meeting.

On Friday, January 19th, both schools held a ceremony to commemorate the launching of Lamoni at the Han Sang-eun Lounge of Centennial Hall, drawing over 50 attendees, including the presidents of both schools. A joint live commerce broadcast was also shown, with a show host from Sookmyung and a promotion representative student from DHU hosting together.

Both schools plan to apply for intellectual property rights, such as trademarks, and sell the cosmetics through online channels and live commerce through sites such as Naver and Coupang.

President Chang Yun-keum said, “With the theme of harmony, Lamoni is a joint project between our two schools, combining the strengths of a Seoul-based university and a local university. I hope this groundbreaking first joint venture between Sookmyung and DHU is successful through mutual cooperation and collaboration. I'm excited to see where it leads.”
