Sookmyung Women’s University Signs a Business Partnership Agreement with the National Library of Korea

Sookmyung Women’s University concluded a business partnership agreement with the National Library of Korea for ‘sharing digital knowledge and information resources and cooperation in the operation of educational contents about digital literacy’ on Thursday, October 28th.

 


 

Officials from both organizations attended the signing ceremony, including President Yunkeum Chang, Vice President Hyuk-seung Shin, Chief Executive of the National Library Seo Hye-ran, and Lee Soo-myung, head of Knowledge and Information Operation. Sookmyung Women’s University and the National Library of Korea promised to support ▲ Sharing and joint utilization of knowledge and information resources ▲ Joint development and distribution of educational contents about digital literacy ▲ Mutual cooperation to foster human resource development ▲ Research cooperation for the development of technology-based library services ▲ co-hosting Academic conferences and seminars and exchanging information.

 

Celebrating its 76th anniversary as a national library, the National Library of Korea has been carrying out the task of of collecting and sharing domestic international knowledge and information resources, guidance·support·cooperation for domestic libraries, research and investigation for library development and support for reading promotion. Through this business agreement, both sides are expecting positive effects on mutual development through information exchange, research cooperation, and providing various intelligent information services based on technology.

 

Digital literacy, which means the ability to use information and technology in a digital environment, was especially emphasized in the agreement. The agreement aims at perceiving the value and importance of digital literacy and develop practical educational contents and programs in real life by specifying and embodying various overlapping areas.

 

President Yunkeum Chang said, “The agreement is an example that shows the openness and innovation of the governmental institution for the realization of the 4th Industrial Revolution. It is expected that national digital knowledge information will be linked and fused across all fields, and it will serve as an opportunity to cooperate in the operation of digital literacy contents.”
