Sookmyung Women’s University’s College of Pharmacy (Dean Jinseok Kim) obtained the 2021 Pharmacy Education Certification conducted by the Korean Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (hereinafter referred to as KACPE), and was designated as an accredited institution for the maximum period of 5 years.

The college of pharmacy evaluation and accreditation conducted by KACPE determines whether the pharmaceutical curriculum, all conditions for education, and post-graduation education meet the basic requirements for nurturing pharmacists in Korea, and announces the results to the public in order to establish social confidence. There are eight evaluation categories: ▲ Mission and talent exemplar ▲ Operations ▲ Curriculum ▲ Students ▲ Faculty ▲ Educational environment and facilities ▲ Post-graduation programs ▲ Continuous improvement.

Sookmyung Women’s University’s College of Pharmacy satisfied 48 areas (96%) out of 50 required items for the accreditation evaluation, and was judged as excellent in four detailed items: financial management, student selection, faculty competency reinforcement and support, and graduate school education. With this, it has proven its excellence as a pharmaceutical educational institution.

In order to achieve the educational goals and vision of Sookmyung Women’s University’s College of Pharmacy, it implements a system of specifying the merits of a graduate on the diploma when the student selects one of the specific majors among clinical health, pharmaceutical industry, and pharmaceutical research and completes the curriculum. Not only that, it was also highly praised for nurturing global pharmaceutical talents leading the future through the information certification system, among others. Through the completely reorganized curriculum based on the new selection as an integrated six-year pharmacy school, which will be implemented from the 2022 academic year, the College of Pharmacy plans to nurture pharmaceutical talents who will lead the future of bio-health pharmaceuticals.

Meanwhile, Sookmyung Women’s University’s College of Pharmacy, founded in 1953, has established itself as a prestigious pharmaceutical school with excellent faculty and state-of-the-art research facilities and has produced many competent pharmacists. In particular, it is showing research power and achievements, such as attracting the Medical Research Center (MRC, Research Center for Cell Fate Control) among the leading research center projects supported by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the National Research Foundation of Korea in 2011.
