The Opening of a State English Ability Examination

State English Ability Examination Room is now open in our campus. This will be the example to Korean Style English Ability Evaluation. Last November, because of the organized consortium of the Korean Chamber of Commerce, Seoul University, Korea University, Korean International University, and our university was enrolled for ‘State English Ability Examination of development and operation business, so we will be in charge of an important part for the development of ‘State English Ability Examination.
On June 14th, at the opening ceremony of commemorative event, including the president of Sookmyung, Education of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Associate of the Korean Chamber of commerce, the staff of our school attended and congratulate for opening ceremony of State English Ability Examination Room. Supporting from the Education of the Ministry of Science and Technology, we were able to open an Examination Room at the Sun-Hun Kwan the 1st floor of underground room #015, there is 45 seats available. This Examination Room has arrangements to evaluate the iBT (Internet-Based Test) which includes reading, listening, speaking, and writing. We are planning to open this Examination Room in 2012, which will be a complete State English Ability Examination of development, until then it will be used for PC examination rooms for the student’s convenience.
1997’ our university developed the base on web for speaking and writing test MATE, first time in Korea, and in 2006’ it became legalized by Korea Government, our university get recognition for development of technology needed to English examination. Choosing the State English Ability evaluating Examination development and operating business, the opening of English Ability Examination room we are expecting to have important part of the development of Korean Style English Evaluation system for our university. State English Ability evaluating Examination is the government program that will substitute TOEFL, TOEIC, beginning of 2012’ it will start fundamental role, and apply to each government Examination and general Examination.
