Sookmyung Women’s University’s ROTC held a special lecture with the commander of AFOSI

Sookmyung Women’s University's 217th ROTC invited Lieutenant Colonel Victoria Mayo, commander of the US Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) in Korea, on Tuesday, April 13 to hold a lecture titled “Answering the Call to Serve” for the cadets.
Lieutenant Colonel Victoria Mayo, who visited Sookmyung Women’s University on this day, graduated from the US Air Force Academy and has served at the airbase for 16 years. Currently, she is the commander of the Office of Special Investigations at Osan Air Force Base.

During a 50-minute lecture, Lieutenant Colonel Victoria Mayo described her ▲entrance to the Air Force Academy and the opportunity to serve in the Air Force, ▲the opportunity to pursue a career in the US Air force Office of Special Investigation (OSI), ▲the challenges facing female soldiers and the significance of female soldiers, and ▲encouragement and meaning of success to future military leaders.
Commander Cadet Su-bin Hwang, who attended the lecture, said, "It gave me great personal comfort when Lieutenant Colonel Victoria Mayo shared her own experiences," and “I was especially impressed by her sincere tips on how to overcome slumps encountered during military life.” Also, Quartermaster Cadet Ji-yeong Lee said, "I was able to learn various methods and significance for serving as a woman,” and “it was a meaningful time to cultivate my dream as a future female military leader."
After the lecture, Lieutenant Colonel Victoria Mayo had a conversation with President Yunkeum Chang. At the meeting, the two sides promised to actively exchange for the goal of fostering future military leaders.

On this day, President Yunkeum Chang said, “As Korea's first women's university ROTC, we have established ourselves as a training center for human resources who will be responsible for the future of our country,” and “with the visit of Lieutenant Colonel Victoria Mayo, we will make efforts to foster future leaders by carrying out active cooperation activities such as exchange events with our school ROTC and the US Air Force training organization.”
