As part of the 2021 New Year’s Week of Hope for International Students, Sookmyung Women’s University held a New Year's Hope Message Competition in which international students participated.

This contest was held to recollect last year’s difficulties caused by COVID-19 and to greet a new year with high hopes. Many international students participated to convey their wishes and goals in their own languages.

15 students from 7 countries including China, Vietnam, France, Brazil, Turkey, Pakistan, and Peru took photos of message boards with their handwritten messages and sent them to the school to convey their wishes on various topics such as end of COVID-19, family health, traveling, and performances.

Below are some of the messages.

"I hope that all the regrets in 2020 will mature into stepping stones toward happiness in 2021."

“I wish for the speedy eradication of COVID-19 in the new year. I hope that I can spend each day more faithfully and happily, and graduate safe and sound. I also wish for my parents’ health."

“I hope the cold and difficult days are over and hope for a new year of shimmering happiness. I hope the New Year can bring in success that will erase last year’s troubles."

“First of all, I hope that the New Year will be a year that brings health and peace to the world. I hope that we will be able to overcome all the hardships in 2020 this year and come out victorious in 2021. I hope this will be a year where we can go to school without worries, spend more time with our family and friends, and travel freely."

“This year, I hope I can learn more about myself and find a goal for the future. I hope this year can bring many new and fun adventures.

I wish for the quick end to COVID-19 and good health for everyone. I also hope that my performances will go smoothly as planned. Happy New Year everyone~"
