The Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center is currently pursuing a three-year project called ‘Innovation Strategies for Digital Participation of Latin American Women’ since 2012, with the support of the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, and the UNDP. The goal of this project is education on entrepreneurship, economics and business administration using ICT for local women in Peru, Columbia, and Ecuador, to strengthen the socio-economic capacity of women. It is evaluated as being an excellent cooperation model that combines women’s capacity strengthening, which is a big issue at the United Nations currently, with ICT application, and as corresponding to the ideals of the UN.

The Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center was invited to the forum in recognition of it successful progress in the project. Head of the Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network, Myung-hee Kim, received attention for introducing the ‘One Million Housewives’ Internet Education’ case study conducted by the Ministry of Information and Communication in the past. Kim revealed, “We will continue to work with Latin America to make the excellent standard of Korean ICT known in Latin America, and develop and transfer a Latin American women’s ICT capacity strengthening model. “
