Sookmyung Women’s University held the “2020 Sookmyung Happy Growth Week” event on campus for two days from October 28-29 (Wed-Thu).

In line with the slogan of “Greetings Snowflake - Find Dream, Design your future,” this event was organized to improve students' career exploration and satisfaction with campus life through special lectures by senior alumni active in society and introduction of student support programs for enrolled students. Unlike previous years, when it was operated as an on-site exhibition, all programs were conducted through non-face-to-face online transmission.

Beginning with the welcoming speech of President Yunkeum Chang, the special lecture with alumni from various fields presented future visions to current students, followed by encouraging messages and coping attitude for the students living in a rapidly changing era, and a time to help them successfully advance into society.

In the afternoon, organized by the school administration department, customized programs followed with topics such as ▲scholarship information (on-campus, off-campus, national scholarships), ▲complete guide for exchange students (explaining international exchange programs), ▲selecting a major and completing teaching positions, ▲how to use the library, ▲introduction of recruitment trends in the COVID-19 era, and ▲smart quarantine methods in the COVID-19 era.

The Sookmyung Happiness Growth Week program, which was conducted online, took advantage of being able to ask and answer questions in real time without spatial constraints, resulting in high student participation. Student Yu-jin Han (Division of Biological Sciences, ‘18) who participated in this event said, “I was disappointed that I could not enjoy campus life as before because of COVID-19, but through this event, I was able to participate in various programs and get answers to questions that had been on my mind for a while. It was a very beneficial experience.”

The Center for Student Support, which organized the event, said, “In accordance with the era of “un-tact (non-face-to-face, non-contact)” started due to COVID-19, we will plan various online programs that students can participate in to improve student satisfaction and open up a new paradigm for university life.”
