Sookmyung Women’s University closes rolling recruitment applications...Records 12.84 to 1 competition

As a result of closing the rolling recruitment applications for the 2021 school year on September 28, a total of 21,327 people applied for 1,661 admissions, recording a final average competition rate of 12.84 to 1.

 

The rolling recruitment applications were received simultaneously for all types of screenings from September 23 to September 28. The following is the competition rate per screening type: Sookmyung Talent I (application documentation type) screening 11.02 to 1, Sookmyung Talent II (interview type) screening 16.77 to 1, school records screening 6.1 to 1, excellent essay 21.35 to 1, and artistic creative talent screening 17.76 to 1.

 


 


The Sookmyung Talent I (application documentation type) screening, one of the representative comprehensive student record screenings, showed a competition rate of 11.02 to 1 with 4,661 applicants applying to 423 available admissions. Among them, the highest competition rate was recorded in the following order: Department of Social Psychology 24.60 to 1, School of Communication & Media 22.78 to 1, Division of Education 18.80 to 1. In the Sookmyung Talent II (interview type) screening, 3,856 people applied for 230 available admissions, showing a competition rate of 16.77 to 1. The major with the highest competition rate was 43.00 to 1, the Department of Social Psychology, and in the natural science field, the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering was 29.00 to 1. In the software convergence talent screening, 141 people applied for a total of 19 admissions, recording a competition rate of 7.42 to 1. By detailed recruitment unit, the Department of IT Engineering was 6.14 to 1, Department of Computer Science 8.63 to 1, and Department of Software Convergence 7.25 to 1.

 

In the excellent essay screening, 6,406 people applied for a total of 300 seats, showing the highest competition rate among the recruitment screenings at 21.35 to 1. In the humanities field, the Department of Social Psychology had the highest competition rate at 36.60 to 1 for 5 recruits, and the Division of Business Administration showed a competition rate of 33.07 to 1. In the natural science field, the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering showed a high competition rate of 23.10 to 1 and the Division of Biological Sciences 22.71 to 1.

 

In the school records screening, 1,489 people applied for 244 recruitments, recording a 6.10 to 1 competition rate. The department with the highest competition rate was the Department of French Language & Culture, which recorded 8.33 to 1. For the other screening type, the even opportunity screening (67 people) showed a competition rate of 6.34 to 1.

 

In the artistic creative talent screening, which is a practical skill-oriented screening, 2,735 people applied for 154 seats, recording a competition rate of 17.76 to 1. By department, the competition rate was the highest at 35.29 to 1 for the Department of Painting-Western Painting with 247 people applying for the recruitment of 7, followed by the Department of Vocal Music with 31.64 to 1 rate. In terms of screening outside the quota, 1,614 students applied for 224 seats, which included rural students (63), specialized vocational high school graduates (26), employed specialized vocational high school graduates (120), and special education subjects (15), recording competition rates of 5.30 to 1, 11.12 to 1, 7.73 to 1, and 4.20 to 1, respectively.

 

The final candidates for the rolling recruitment will be announced at 17:00 on December 1 (Tuesday) in the case of the artistic creative talent screening applicants. Successful applicants for the Sookmyung Talent I (application document type), Sookmyung Talent II (interview type), school records, excellent essay, software convergence talent, even opportunity, special education subject (outside the quota), rural student (outside the quota), specialized vocational high school graduates (outside the quota), employed specialized vocational high school graduates (outside the quota) are scheduled to be announced at 17:00 on December 27th (Sunday).
