Recently, the song Pick Me has gained popularity. The song is the theme song for Produce 101, a TV program that has girls compete against one another in order to be the last person on the program. The final contestant is given the opportunity to debut on TV as a singer. Like the hard competition on the TV program, the real job market is exceptionally difficult. Most university students have no idea how to start with job preparation and are getting less information on employment opportunities. To help students seeking jobs, Sookmyung’s Career Development Center for Creative Economy held the ‘Sookmyung Pick Me Program.’

From April 4th to June 10th, the Career Development Center for Creative Economy will run ‘Sookmyung Pick Me Program’ at the Student Union Building room 301. The program runs every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. with cover letter writing on Tuesdays and job interview simulation on Thursdays. Any students including graduates, fourth-grade students, and students on temporary leaves of absence from school may participate.

Especially, this program is for inexperienced job seekers unfamiliar with cover letter writing and who have had little or no job interview experience. Ko Minjung, a consultant at the Career Development Center for Creative Economy, said, “After meeting with students seeking job, we found that a large number of students had had no experience writing cover letters or having job interviews.  Sookmyung Pick Me Program aims to train students on basic job hunting skills.”

Each program begins with a mini-lecture to provide students with basic information before engaging in real-world simulations.  Lee Seoyeon, Division of Economics ’10, said, “I could learn all basic information about how to prepare a job interview.  It was great for whom start to find a job to outline job interview preparation.”  Registration opens one week prior to each session, and students should first register online via the Institute of Career Development website and then again on the Worknet website.  If you want more information, call the Career Development Center for Creative Economy.
