Hye-ji Yun, an alumna who graduated from the Department of Visual & Media Design at Sookmyung Women's University and created a success story as the creator of the Molang character, won the Presidential Award at the Korea Contents Awards.

Yun took the honor of personally receiving the Presidential Award in the character category as a part of the Korean licensing team and original author of Molang at the “2019 Korean Content Awards” ceremony held at COEX on December 11. Yun said, “Thank you for this generous award. I will take this award as an encouragement to work harder” and “I will remain focused and continue to give my best hopefully for many years to come.”

Alumna Hye-ji Yun was appointed as a public relations ambassador in Seoul in 2013 in recognition of her exceptional success by leading various mass production projects as an individual content creator unlike other characters that succeeded in affiliation with large corporations. She was also selected as a scholarship student of the Korean Women Entrepreneurs Association in 2014.

In particular, she was responsible for the renewal of the Snowflake character, which is very much loved by the members of Sookmyung Women's University, and the person who flamed the “Snowflake Goods” popularity. The Snowflake character version 2.0 created by Alumna Yun and the Department of Visual & Media Design students in 2013, including the Snowflake characters per department, are becoming the source of endless additional products.

Currently a resident at Sookmyung Women's University’s Sookmyung Business Incubation Center, Alumna Yun is planning to share various know-hows and behind-the-scenes contents related to the character business that can't be learned in general education on the YouTube channel in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Molang character in May. Alumna Yun said, “I plan to talk about the contracts used in actual business, common sense of product manufacturing, and so on. I want to help artists and manufacturers collaborate efficiently, and through this process, I hope other students can also have the chance to win the Presidential Award.”
