Sookmyung Women's University held the 2019 Capstone Design Competition

Sookmyung Women's University held the 3rd Capstone Design Competition, hosted by the Center for Teaching and Learning, at the Startup Lounge in the Sookmyung Business Incubation Center on December 30, 2019. The Capstone Design Competition is designed to introduce and evaluate the ideas and products of students who have taken the Capstone Design curriculum.
A total of 53 teams (34 natural sciences and engineering/design teams and 19 humanities and social science teams) participated in the competition, and 10 teams from the natural sciences and engineering/design and humanities and social science field participated in the final round.
The Grand Prize in the field of natural sciences and engineering/design was awarded to the Safety Handle Team, which developed an evacuation tool that can help people to escape in the event of a disaster. The Grand Prize in the humanities and social sciences category went to the Prilana Team who developed a yoga and Pilates O2O platform, which provides instructor-customer matching, experiential, and subscription services.
Jae-gyeong Lee, Director of Education Innovation Institute, said, “This was a great opportunity to check out the fresh ideas of the Sookmyungians, and we will continue to support the Capstone Design Competition toward actual production of prototype products.”
Professor Seo-yeon Dong, Department of IT Engineering professor who participated in the screening, said, “Thank you for this great opportunity to evaluate the passionate and fresh ideas of students through the Capstone Design Competition. I hope there can be active support toward turning such good ideas into real start-ups or prototypes beyond just designs.”
