Since the beginning of last March, the selection results of law schools from domestic universities have been announced one after another, and Sookmyung Women's University has been receiving attention by producing large number of successful law school applicants.

According to the law school preparation class, Sookmyung Women's University produced a total of 27 successful candidates (based on March 11, 2020) at the 2020 law school entrance examinations. However, this result includes only the students in the law school preparation class. When those who do not belong to the preparation class and alumni preparing after graduation are included, the number is expected to be 30 to 40.

Sookmyung Women's University has increased the number of successful candidates each year since a total of 9 students who first entered law schools in 2009. Since 2016, the number of successful candidates has been maintained at the 11th to 12th level nationwide. In particular, among the universities that do not have a law school, we have never miss the No. 1 ranking, and given that graduates from their own school are preferred when selecting admission, Sookmyung Women's University students can be said to far exceed those students.

Professor Seong-su Hong, who is in charge of the law school preparation class, said, “We are ranked 14th for the cumulative number of successful candidates over the past 11 years, and we expect to maintain 10th or higher rankings by producing 30 to 40 successful candidates every year,” and “The qualitative performance is also recently improving as the percentage of successful applicants for major law schools in the metropolitan area is on the rise.”

The analysis showed that the advancement of Sookmyung Women's University was a combination of preemptively preparing and supporting the law school preparation class at the beginning of law school admission, and the achievements of senior alumni who attended law schools. Currently, the law school preparation class provides the necessary materials and information for entering law schools through the LEET special lecture, special lecture on interview preparation, individual guidance on self-introduction letter, and network with the alumni. Professor Hong said, “Because we produce more successful candidates than universities that operate law schools by committing huge number of human and physical resources, there have even been chatter among parents that sending kids to Sookmyung Women’s University is advantageous for entering law schools.”
