The 27th KOTESOL (Korea Association of Teachers of English) International Conference was held at our university’s PRIME Center from October 12~13 under the theme “Advancing ELT: Blending Disciplines, Approaches, and Technologies.”

The KOTESOL International Conference is the largest international academic conference in Asia. As more than half of the participants are foreign professors and teachers working in Korea and abroad, it has become a hub of English educational exchanges on a multicultural level. Sookmyung TESOL has been hosting the KOTESOL International Conference for more than 10 years and has served as a center for educating English teachers in Korea. This year's conference focused on in-depth discussions about the leadership of Asian women and Korean women in the field of English education attracted great attention as it was especially participated by international and domestic experts.

David Shaffer, the President of KOTESOL, said, “Our aim is to be the largest society in Korea that can encompass even veteran educators and beginning English teachers under the goal of creating a mutually beneficial English education environment.” Kyeong-suk Yeom, the Head Professor of our university’s TESOL, tossed the question “How to re-define TESOL's Tomorrow?” during her congratulatory address, and reminded all the participants the necessity to develop a diversified educational environment that can meet the demands of the rapidly changing times.

Meanwhile, TESOL is operating the expert international English teacher program to cultivate advanced English teachers, and has been taking applications for the 2020 spring semester since December 2. For more information, please refer to the Sookmyung TESOL website (tesol.sookmyung.ac.kr).
