Our university was selected for the university cooperation project among the 2018 traditional market and shopping center revitalization project implemented by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and is to receive a maximum support of 150 million won each year.

The Traditional Market-University Cooperation Project is a project of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ SEMAS, which is a project for revitalizing creative traditional markets participated by college students equipped with creative ideas that can change the traditional market hand in hand with traditional markets and universities.

Through the cooperation project with the Yongmun Traditional Market, our university’s Research & Business Development Foundation is to promote projects that can revitalize the traditional market and create new jobs for young people by attracting residents as well as diverse new customers. In addition, by converging the prominent characteristics of the nearby Yongsan Electronics Market and the school’s innovative contents, the foundation also plans to promote development of specialized products, production of trial products with educational contents, development of marketing services, etc.

More specifically, they include ▲ “Power of Homemade Food” that develops and sells meals for single households near the university by utilizing empty stores, ▲ development of Yongmun Traditional Market characters and market B.I memorial items,  ▲ development of lighting, stools, and display stands for the merchants in the market, ▲ improvement of market newsletter and operation of SNS education program, etc. Furthermore, there are plans to discover competitive future contents with the merchant association in order to improve self-motivated market management.

Our university, which is currently conducting campus town project with Seoul City, plans to create diverse synergy effects through the partnership in traditional market-university cooperation project. There are expectations that “education-to-practice” can become a reality by utilizing ideas that can be applied in the market among diverse contents from the Capstone Design Classes being implemented as a part of the Campus Town Project, “Value Up Together!” competition, and entrepreneurship competitions, and actualizing the idea into reality and finally connecting the idea to student entrepreneurship.

The officials of our university’s Research & Business Development Foundation said, “Through this 2-year project, we will be able to increase our university’s social contribution and provide an opportunity to create local jobs rather than large businesses for the students,” and “We are hoping this can become a chance to improve individual competence and the driving force behind regional development.”
