The Women’s Laboratory Venture Innovation Team, which is composed of 12 teams of 24 students selected from 6 universities including our own, conducted activities for exploring overseas customers in Washington DC, U.S. starting from July.

With the selection as the specialized nurturing institution for women that is focused on fostering women in natural sciences and engineering students toward entrepreneurship this year, our university is to lead the venture entrepreneurship education and activation with the aid of more than 1.4 billion won for the next 2 years for the purpose of commercializing laboratory technologies of women undergraduate (graduate) students and teaching staff in the market. The 12 exploring teams held a network event with the Washington branch alumni on July 31 and conducted information sharing on the U.S. market and consumer interviews at the same time.

The event was participated by 20 alumni including the President of Washington Branch Jong-ok Lee, Alumni Jae-ok Jang, and others, who gave their full support for the interviews such as presenting the status of the industries in the U.S. market based on the exploring teams’ venture items and introducing current practitioners and experts in the relevant fields. The Laboratory Venture Innovation Team searched methods of technical ventures that can market their laboratories’ research results through customer interviews all over America such as Virginia and Maryland following Washington DC. Based on such foundation, they plan to lead the way toward practical advancement into the U.S. market. The officials of our university’s Entrepreneurship Engagement Foundation and Research & Business Development Foundation, who are in charge of the project, expressed their ambition and said, “Through diverse entrepreneurship education and technical consulting, we plan to pioneer the establishment of an ecosystem for technical ventures by women in Korea.”
