Sookmyung Women’s University signs an MOU with Silicon Valley’s autonomous driving startup Bluespace

On December 3, Sookmyung Women's University signed an MOU with the autonomous driving startup Bluespace for smart mobility development cooperation at the school’s Administration Building.
The signing ceremony was held via Zoom online due to COVID-19. It was participated by President Yunkeum Chang, Bluespace CEO Christine Moon, and other school officials such as Vice President Hyuk-seung Shin, Dean of Research & Business Development Foundation Myeong-seok Lee, Dean of College of Engineering Jong-woo Lee, Dean of Digital Information Innovation Ki-yong Lee, Dean of International Affairs Office Gieun Chung, and Professor Dong-hoon Shin of the Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering.
According to this agreement, the two organizations agreed to strengthen research cooperation in the autonomous driving smart car field and actively promote the exchange of human resources and materials necessary for the project.
Bluespace is an autonomous driving startup founded in Silicon Valley, USA in April of last year, and has been in the business of applying autonomous driving technology to buses in various parts of the United States such as Minnesota. Bluespace, which has strengths in the field of autonomous driving recognition, is developing autonomous driving software that can accurately recognize the surrounding environment based on its accumulated technology. Last year, it received $350,000 investment from Kakao Ventures and the US Fusion Fund.
Sookmyung Women's University, which currently has the best technology in the nation as a women's university in the field of integrated safety control technology for autonomous driving, plans to create a research synergy that integrates autonomous driving recognition and control through cooperation with Bluespace.
Previously, Sookmyung Women's University signed an agreement on smart mobility research and education that combines autonomous vehicles and healthcare systems with the Future Mobility Technology Center of Seoul National University, and decided to promote technology research and development to create an ecosystem in related fields.
Considering that Christine Moon, the CEO of Bluespace, is a Korean woman startup CEO in Silicon Valley, Sookmyung Women's University also plans to promote international exchange to nurture female leaders such as online special lectures for female engineers and global tours of Silicon Valley for current students.
President Yunkeum Chang said, “Through the agreement with Bluespace, we will focus on strengthening researches in the field of AI-based autonomous driving smart mobility and foster female engineers who will lead the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) in the era of the 4th industrial revolution.”
