Admissions Office Hosts “2023 Admissions Fair” for Parents, Inviting 150 Parents

The Sookmyung Women’s University’s Admissions Office hosted the “2023 Sookmyung Women’s University Admission Fair for Parents” to provide parents with overview of this year's college admissions process. About 150 parents of college-bound students attended the event on Wed, Aug. 2, at the Centennial Hall.
With the opening of 2024 early application just over a month away, lots of parents were eager to gather more information, leading to bookings to be closed early.
"My daughter is interested in going to a women's university, so I came here to get the information for her application," said a parent of a senior female high school student.
They added, "It's a good opportunity to learn more about how colleges select students with the comprehensive student record screening and how good school records need to be." As part of the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Contributing University Support Project, this event was held in an effort to help parents guide their children's education based on the right information about college entrance.
Sookmyung Women’s University’s admissions officers and high school teachers joined the event to provide parents with updated and detailed information: from how to prepare for the ever-changing college entrance system, the average CSAT score and high school records of newly enrolled students in the university last year, types of applications to the university, to the comprehensive student record screening system.
A parent of a high school senior hoping their daughter to go to Sookmyung Women’s University said, “I got the impression that the school system related to majors, such as advisors and mentor programs, is great. I am satisfied that I can get detailed information such as the cut-off marks for my daughter's desired major.”
Kim Yang-jin (Admissions Dean) stated, “At this year's admission fair, we tried to guide parents how to set a college application strategy that fits their child's strengths. We will continue to provide useful information to parents of high school seniors so that they can plan their child's college entrance together without the heavy burden of private tutoring.”
