Agreement to donate 1.5 billion won worth of Educational Software with Altair Korea

On the 7th, Sookmyung Women’s University made an agreement with the global leader of software company, Altair to receive 1.5 billion won worth of Hyperworks Unlimited Educational License software free of charge.

 

Through the agreement, both institutions have decided to co-manage an educational program for the progress and development of the College of Engineering and to reinforce a mutual cooperation for the usage of facilities and associated organizations.

 

Altair Korea is a CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) specialized company based upon consulting, engineering, development and sales of HyperWorks product, technology support, and technology of constructing a high-performance environment. CAE has recently conducted a project to support education by offering student-free licenses, a thesis support program, and online educational videos to foster CAE experts.

After establishing the College of Engineering in 2015, our university has broadened the partnership with external specialized institutions in order to build a sustainable and stable educational environment. The agreement with Altair is also one of the many efforts to support the partnership. The dean of Mechanical Systems Engineering stated, “with the software support from Altair Korea, we are planning to offer fundamental education on CAE designing and interpretation and to train students to apply their engineering knowledge acquired from courses such as Capstone Design to actual designing.”


The CEO of Altair Korea, Moon Sung Soo said, “In the past, mechanical engineering used to be a male-oriented manufacturing field focused on welding and metal cutting. However, there is a growing interest among female students these days as mechanical engineering allows them to simulate the entire process from designing to making prototypes. Through this agreement, I will support students of Sookmyung Women’s University to become the next generation of female engineers with a better class environment.”, during his attendance in the agreement ceremony.
