Our university’s Museum is holding the first joint exhibition with South Africa.

This exhibition which is held at the Disong National Museum of Cultural History in South Africa from July 25 to August 26 is in concert with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE), among others, and it is expected to feature traditional artworks dealing with women’s lives in both countries based on the topic .

The exhibition stemmed from the first cultural exchange project between KOFICE and South Africa for the purpose of promoting diplomatic relations between South Korea and African nations and in commemoration of the Women’s Month in South Africa.

The first joint exhibition of the two nations is an exchange exhibition centered on traditional artworks related to women’s lives. The exhibition with the subtitle “Traditional Korean Women’s Lives” shows the traditional lives of the Korean women through 66 high-quality artifacts held in our university’s Museum.

The Museum officials are hoping the exhibition can become a meaningful opportunity to spread our university’s cultural and artistic aptitude, which boast 112 years of history and tradition, to the South African continent. The Museum officials said, “Artworks in women’s lives encapsulate years of women’s aspirations, desires, and ambition toward a better life,” and “This exhibition bringing together the art and culture of South Korea and South Africa will play a significant role in promoting mutual understanding and building trust between the two nations.”
