Our university wins the “Education Innovation” Prize at the 2018 Korean Innovation Frontier Award

Our university’s Lifelong Learning Institute (Director Yongwook Jun) won the Grand Prize in the “Education Innovation” category at the “2018 Korean Innovation Frontier Award” that was held at The Plaza Hotel on July 24.  

 

The “2018 Korean Innovation Frontier Award” is an award that seeks to contribute to the sustainable growth of Korea by awarding outstanding institutions which discover new growth engines and raise organizational value in the coming 4th industrial revolution through management innovations in the fields of technology, products, and services.

 

This year, based on the industry-specific trend survey results in compliance with the Korean Standard Industrial Classification, Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Dong-A Daily News database, and review from the deliberation committee consisting of experts, 31 institutions were selected among a total of 13 categories such as △innovative management, △technology innovation, △customer value innovation, △ICT innovation, △financial innovation, △education innovation, and △community innovation.  

 


 

Our university’s Lifelong Learning Institute was awarded the Grand Prize in the education innovation category by being highly valued for our promotion of lifelong learning expanding the insights of this knowledge-sharing era based on consumer-oriented management and programs centered on keywords with promising future growths such as “food culture and top management course,” “K-beauty CEO course,” “luxury business expert course,” and “lifestyle school.”

 

As there is a global effort toward universities adapted to the era of “knowledge-sharing,” the Lifelong Learning Institute is operating an academic credit bank system (pedology (under the chancellor’s name), social welfare, culinary arts, dining space design) courses and the institute has also opened and is operating certification/expert/general education courses such as △history and culture (Korean history/Western history/Chinese history), △Montessori Korea instructor, △vocal instructor, △senior health/leisure instructor, △art management leadership academy, △detox juice & smoothie master, △tea/herbal tea consultant, △missionary dancing, △restart counselor, △art therapy consultant, △color therapist, △perfume designer, △lecture contents expert, △service image management expert, and △culture & art top expert courses.



Lifelong Learning Institute’s “Creative Fun” program series

 

In particular, the institute is actively operating industry-specific commissioned education projects that boast differentiated contents based on our university’s quality resources and reputation. The representative program is the “Creative Fun” program which is based on educational concepts such as “module approach,” “job performance improvement,” and “creative fun.” Through top lecturers in diverse fields of history, society, culture, art, gastronomy, etc. from LGU+, POSCO, and KT executives, and by operating participation-oriented lectures, there have been great responses.

 

Director Jun said, “This award is very meaningful because our core values as a value creator have been recognized through our representative programs that ensure Sookmyung’s prominence,” and “By utilizing the university’s resources, we will make the utmost efforts toward integration and mutual growth as a think tank of the local community, expansion of high-class culture and expert knowledge, and expansion of networks, and by also challenging new fields with large growth potentials, we will create new platforms to contribute to the improvement of our competitiveness.”
