We have established 'SOOKMYUNG Blue Ribbon Project,' to strengthen our competitiveness against other universities. 'Blue Ribbon' has been symbolized as the will to succeed and carry out educational reforms, and the ribbon signifies the goal of forming a new innovative educational institution.

As a higher education institution, we have an obligation of leading a new educational reform to fulfill a project such as this. Since last September, with Youngsil Han assuming the presidency, we have established educational goals to cultivate creative intellectuals with visionary minds by positioning our education towards strengthening global leadership, passionate volunteerism, creative knowledge, and humanistic value.

To fulfill our goals, we have commissioned the Samsung Economy Research Institute and consulted establishing the 'goals and long-term strategic development of the university.' As a result, they proposed five strategic directions and seventeen key tasks under the title of 'forefront of cultivating future intellects by a global elite educational institution.'

'Blue Ribbon Project' will be the basis of our future educational infrastructure to fulfill our educational goals effectively. The project will be carried out in two directions?strengthening Sookmyung's identity and competitiveness against other universities.

The Sookmyung identity is focused on strengthening the competitiveness of our students to differentiate them from others.

First of all, from 2012 half of Sookmyung students will be sent abroad to the Sookmyung Cultural Center in a foreign country through the center's volunteer programs, or will study in foreign universities on exchange at least for one semester to be equipped with multi-cultural and multinational perspectives.

In addition, we are planning to develop SM-CLA which is Sookmyung's unique index to evaluate students' job skills. We aim to raise each one's index 20% higher than the index they originally received when they entered Sookmyung. Meanwhile, 'Blue Ribbon Project' contains the will suggesting a new model of university's contribution to society by largely implementing our previous leading policies. Sookmyung will offer after-school services through educating the students selected by 'Regional Core Talent Screening' to contribute to their local society, and activating 'Post-bachelor Programs' for unemployed graduates and 'Lifelong Mentor Programs' which encourage continuous networking between professors and students. Moreover, we intend to be a leader in the knowledge sharing business by prompting the use of 'SNOW 2.0,' the open knowledge sharing system, and continuing to upgrade our system.
