Korea - France Forum is a private standing conference that is participated by prominent figures in the political, economic, cultural and educational field of each country in order to discuss major issues between the two countries and strengthen future cooperation. Since the first Korea - France Forum that was jointly held with IFRI in 1995, it is currently being held between the two countries. Our university was selected as the hosting institution for 2012 Korea - France Forum and acted as the chair for the 10th Korea - France Forum.

The Korean representatives of the forum included President Hwang Seon-hye, Chairman of Korea Foundation Yu Hyeon-seok, Former Prime Minister Kim Seok-soo, Assembly Member of Democratic Party Sim Jae-gwon, Assembly Member of Saenuri Party Sim Yun-jo, French Ambassador Lee Hye-min, President of KOSBI Kim Dong-seon, President of KINU Jeon Seong-hun, Member of Creative Economy Division of National Economic Advisory Council Kim Dae-ho, Korea Cultural Exchange Director of Sookmyung Women's University Mun Si-yeon, and President of Korea - France Association Park Yeong-hye. There were 11 French representatives who included Director of French Institute of International Relations Thierry de Montbrial, Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises, Innovation, and the Digital Economy Fleur Pellerin, Professor Guy Sorman who is a world renowned scholar and critic on civilization, French Chairman of Korea-France CEO Association Louis Gallois, and President of French-Korean Parliamentarian Friendship Association André Santini.

The forum began with the opening remarks by the Director of French Institute of International Relations Thierry de Montbrial, Chairman of Korea Foundation Yu Hyeon-seok and President Hwang Seon-hye, and a heated discussion followed concerning various topics such as 'creative economy', 'diplomacy and culture', and 'international security and nuclear issue in North Korea'. In particular, there was an in-depth discussion on measures to expand cultural/personal exchanges between the two countries.

President Hwang said, "In the progress of continuously promoting exchanges in the cultural and various other sectors through a close relationship with France, I am very pleased to co-host this forum as a key institution of this private diplomacy." Furthermore, she said "I will make continuous efforts to develop the Korea - France Forum into a 'global forum' where prominent figures in each country can gather and discuss major issues, and I hope cooperation from both countries can contribute to the future Korea and France relationship."

In addition, our university is currently preparing follow-up Korea - France Forums such as 'Korea - France Leaders Forum' with Éole Nationale d'Administration (ENA), which is one of the prestigious school Grand école that produced presidents, prime ministers, senior officials, among others in France. Therefore, there are a lot of expectations of development of exchanges between the two countries, and the forum came to an end as the representatives of Korea and France promised to further strengthen the role of Korea - France Forum in the future.
