Sookmyung Women’s University Campus Town Project Team has been selected to be participating in the 6th Seoul Campus Town Project in 2024. From 2024 to 2026, the university is slated to receive KRW 1.5 billion per year and up to KRW 4.5 billion for 3 years from the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

The Seoul Campus Town Project is a project between the Seoul Metropolitan Government and universities located in Seoul to foster early-stage startups and boost the economy around universities.

The Campus Town Project was previously selected as a unit-type project from 2017 to 2019 and as a comprehensive third project from 2020 to 2023, leading the way in youth entrepreneurship and revitalizing the local commercial district of Yongsan-gu. It has resulted in making 121 startup teams through demand-oriented startup programs from prospective entrepreneurs to early-stage startups and growing businesses.

The 6th comprehensive project will operate various startup support programs to realize the vision of building a value- and region-based youth entrepreneurs fostering system.

In addition, the project will run programs related to food tech—which is Sookmyung Women’s University’s specialty—such as food production and distribution, artificial intelligence dedicated to food consumption, alternative foods, ordering kiosks, and serving and cooking robots.

Im Yoo-jin, the head of the Campus Town Project Team, said, “We will create a leading startup program based on the know-how of successfully operating unit-type projects and the third comprehensive project and contribute to mutually beneficial growth with the local community.”
