Opening of Korea's first business support center for businesses that utilize open data

Open Square-D is an open space where ideas and imaginations related to open data can gather and it is the first one-stop support center of open data utilization in Korea that provides support for commercialization and entrepreneurship of open data utilization by searching and developing ideas and entrepreneurs. This center is supervised by the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs, advised and operated by the National Information Society Agency, and Sookmyung University provides the space.
Open Square-D comprises of a collaborating space for sharing ideas and technology of open data and a residential space that incubates entrepreneurs. Currently, it is resided by 7 promising start-up companies that were selected by an open competition last year, and among them, there is the "Modu Company" that won the Prime Minister's 2014 Korea Internet Award by developing the Modu Parking application.
The opening ceremony was attended by inside and outside figures such as President Sunhye Hwang, Chairman of National Assembly Public Administration and Security Committee, Chairman of National Information Society Agency Seo byeong-jo, Chairman of Open Data Strategy Council Kim Jin-hyeong, Head of Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs Creative Organization Department Shim Deok-seop, Head of Research Department Cheon Chung-il, Dean of College of Engineering Lee Si-wu, Political Science Professor Hong Gyu-deok, among others. In his congratulatory message, Chairman Seo byeong-jo of the National Information Society Agency announced, "I am very excited that a space for providing comprehensive support for new open data businesses has been created where people can Design Dreams through Data in this Digital age, and I will give full support for the success of future entrepreneurs and the starting members."
President Sunhye Hwang said, "We will give out best to create new jobs for young people by providing support that can enable young talents with imagination, passion, and new ideas on open data can realize their dream of entrepreneurship at the center."
