Integrated Multiculture Research Center selected for 2014 International Exchange Fund by the Japanes

 The project, which will be conducted for one year from last November, aims to research methods of effective cooperation between various subjects that not only help immigrant children and youths to adapt to society, but also help them grow to become leaders of the multicultural society of the future. A visitor group, consisting of Korean and Japanese field experts, government officials, scholars, and journalists, will go back and forth between Japan and Korea for activities such as visiting the field, workshops, and symposiums.

President Doi Yoshihiko (right) of the Dokaishi Multicultural Coexistence Resource Center of Japan is receiving a fund on behalf of the Integrated Multicultural Research Center at the fund award ceremony of the Toyota Foundation in Tokyo, Japan, in October.

On December 10, Tone Hideo, the personnel in charge of the international exchange fund at the Toyota Foundation visited the Integrated Multicultural Research Center and relayed the news of the fund award ceremony, and discussed future details of the project.

Director Kwang-il Yoon of the Integrated Multicultural Research Center said, “We plan to provide a solution to effectively solve problems of the new multicultural generation through this project, and establish an East Asian network of researchers and activists, to provide a foundation for continuous joint research and work on issues related to the multicultural society of the next generation.”
