Global HRD Center of our university, selected for Policy-Focused Research Center Support Business!

 On December 29, the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea announced that the Global HRD Center of our university was selected for the Liberal Arts sector of the 2015 Policy-Focused Research Center Support Business.

 

The Policy-Focused Research Center Support Business is a business being conducted by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea to establish a foundation for research through stronger support for university subsidiary research centers and to strengthen research capacity by inducing specification and specialization. The Global HRD Center was selected for the business with the policy research theme of ‘Pursuit of a Policy for Internationalization of High School Education and Advancement of Korean Education to International Society.’ It is a large-scale research project conducted over a total of six years over two stages, and receives around 300 million won, including indirect funds, each year for a total business fund of around 1.8 billion won.

 

undefinedAccording to the research center, this business is divided into five fields research on degree acquirement methods according to education export type, methods of cooperation between domestic and international universities, development of financial support business evaluation models to attract foreign students, analysis of Korean education in areas with Korean residents and research on support methods, and extraction of contribution methods of Korea according to the 2030 UNESCO education execution plan. The goal is to present a blueprint for a strategy for internationalization of Korean high school education strengthen competitiveness as an international strong education country, and simultaneously present expert opinions to react effectively to international society-based issues.

 

This research business is supervised by Professor Dong-ju Choi of the School of Global Service (left photograph), and five researchers with long research experience in each of their fields of Global service (Jung-in Cho, Yoo-jin Han), Korean Language & Literature (Hong-shik Lee), Education (So-young Park), and Liberal arts education (Ho-sup Lee) are the specific managers and joint researchers. The Global HRD Center revealed, “We expect to position ourselves as a leading research center that establishes internationalization strategies of domestic universities and education in general, and actually supports those strategies through this business.”
