The term Snowboard was coined by combining the word Snow, which represents Sookmyung, and Board, or classroom board. It is a much upgraded learning management system incorporating e-classroom and cyber lecture systems. Since this system can support multiple languages such as Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, and French among others, foreign students are also able to use it with ease. Snowboard is thus a marked improvement over the former E-class.

As Sookmyung’s learning space extends to the online world, students can learn in more versatile ways by sharing and utilizing document files, Web documents, YouTube and other videos, as well as check materials for their classes and proceed with various learning activities on their PCs or mobile devices. Professors too now have the option of giving quizzes, surveying students’ opinions and providing different class materials and activities online, and are now able to communicate with students more freely through these new lines of communication.

Professor Kwangsook Chung of the English Language & Literature department, commented, “Students upload their reports and assignments now, and it has become a simpler process to check them. Although I don’t have all the functions of the system down pat yet, the more I get accustomed to it, the easier it becomes to manage my classes.”
