KF Global E-School with AJC of Vietnam Officially Opens

KF Global e-school, jointly run by the Sookmyung University Korean Culture Exchange Institute and the Academy of Journalism and Communication, a prestigious university in Vietnam, opened on April 8 with an official ceremony on the 6th floor of the Administration Building. The ceremony was via web, where Presidents and staffs of the two universities were invited online for the event. It was the first of its kind for our school.

The KF Global e-School, operated by Korea Cultural Exchange Institute with the support from Korea International Exchange Foundation, is now in its fifth year. It offers, via real-time online lectures, quality contents of Korean studies to students in foreign universities. The opening ceremony was graced by the attendance of President Truong Ngoc Nam of Academy of Journalism and Communication; Director Kyung- Chul Park of KF; Director Jae- Yoon Jang of KOICA; and advisor to KOICA Mr. Seung- Yong Um along with other staffs and students. The two universities exchanged welcome and congratulatory messages and celebrated the start of the joint program.

Academy of Journalism and communication, in Hanoi, Vietnam, was established in 1962 and has been producing key talent talents in the fields of the government, socialist party politics, culture, journalism, and media. The e-School will offer a lecture on the Korean public policies for 26 Vietnamese times. Professors and students will be able to interact freely.

“This video course provides rich and accurate knowledge on Korea to foreign students and thus enhances the national reputation in the world. By offering classes not only in humanities but also in social science, the program builds positive sentiments toward Korea among foreign students.” said Director Si-yeon Moon of Korean Culture Exchange Institute. She added, “I am very grateful to all the participating catering to the Vietnamese local time to provide high quality contents of the Korean studies.” 


For background information, the phase 1 KF Global e-School program and fellowships were with Japan, Hong Kong, France, Senegal, and India. After their success, the Institute was selected again for the phase 2 program starting in 2015 and ending in 2018. With an annual support of KRW 150million, other than the AJC in Vietnam, video lectures are underway for Hanoi University, University of Kuwait, Showa University of Japan, and Jawaharlal Nehru University.
