The special lecture which began as a part of the 'Introduction of Korea for Foreign Diplomats' program was held to promote easier understanding of the overall Korean culture for the foreign diplomats who are appointed for the first time in Korea. The special lecture which began at 1:30 pm continued for about 3 hours. It was participated by 61 diplomats from 42 countries, and all the lectures were carried out in English.

The Korean Cultural Institute was in charge of informing the new diplomats of the Korean culture. The cultural education utilized various audio-visual materials to introduce Korea's colorful culture such as Korean cuisine, traditional Korean-style houses, and Korean writing Hangul; then followed the explanation of the Korean traditional dress, Hanbok. The new diplomats in attendance listened carefully and showed interest as to throw a few questions during the lectures.

This training was made possible in last October when the chancellor of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy, Kim Byung-kook, visited our university to lecture on fostering global diplomats. Chancellor Kim showed interest in the 'Custom Training Program for Korean Tradition / Modern Culture' which targets foreign diplomats residing in Korea conducted by the Korea National Diplomatic Academy. From this, he came to propose the education on Korean traditional culture.

He said, "This is the first time for our university to participate in a diplomat training, and we will make efforts to continue cooperation with the Korea National Diplomatic Academy through this opportunity."
