On this day, a total of 30 schools received their certifications consisting of 26 four-year colleges, including our university, and 4 community colleges. The list of certified colleges will be provided as outstanding universities with IEQAS Certification at diplomatic establishments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and on the official website of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for foreign students to see in 11 languages.

In addition, administrative and financial benefits in terms of government policies for foreign students can be expected in the future such as easier immigration inspection for incoming foreign students, additional points when selecting Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) beneficiaries, etc. Selected colleges will maintain their certification for 3 years and must annually satisfy the standard criteria.

According to our universities' International Affairs Team, our university received high scores across all items for the IEQAS Evaluation. Our university scored high above the standard on criteria like diversity and language skill of foreign students, rate of illegal residence, accommodation ratio for new international students, etc., and also earned favorable review for the on-site evaluation. A staff member of International Affairs said, "We are managing the academic standard of newcomers through detailed credential screening, and giving continuous support to attending students through programs such as Global Peer Mentor Program, Academic Advisor for International Student Program, and one-to-one counseling.

With the recognition from this certification, the university plans to actively implement 'Sookmyung Global Best' strategy. The university plans to go beyond inter-university exchanges and establish collaboration with women-related international organizations such as UN Women and YWCA as well as NGO, and also participate in our government's aid projects for developing countries to focus our research on educational projects for women in developing countries. In addition, various global programs will be planned and implemented through collaboration with foreign embassies in Korea and international organizations like UNESCO, OECD, UNFPA and World Bank. Through this, our university hopes to ultimately become the true 'global leader of women's education'.
