Ambassador Chatterson talked about the meaning of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Canada and the promotion of cooperation in an international society in a lecture titled ‘Constructive "Middle" Power Cooperation? Why, How and With Whom?’.

The ambassador expressed the need to promote interdependent cooperative relationships between developed countries like Canada and Korea side-by-side with big powerful nations in order to raise the influence and voice of the international society. He also explained the possible changes and advantages brought about by the FTA, now being discussed by both countries, and emphasized the need for the progress of a multi-level exchange in the areas of energy, education, investment and others.

Chatterson’s special lecture, which coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and Korea, proposed the promotion of friendly relations between both countries and a wider awareness of Canada. Before his lecture, the ambassador visited our University’s Main Library accompanied by President Hwang Sun-Hye and penned a note titled ‘Peace and Prosperity on Peninsula!’ for the Sookmyung Hope Tree.

Our University had previously made a strategic business agreement with the Embassy of Canada and has since been holding several events related to the country. Notable examples are , a photograph and book exhibition show at the Library last May, and , a modern art exhibition including private works from the Embassy of Canada, which was open from September to November at the Museum. Ambassador Chatterson’s lecture marked the grand finale of this year’s ongoing cooperative relation between both institutions.
